Strange how life changes

Its odd sometimes, the way that your life can change. I know that dogs and especially puppies take a lot of your time, but I didn’t realize that my life would revolve around them. Even when I am gone I am thinking…Are they ok? Are they being good? Jeez! But on that puppy note, I have to show you Kirk last night.

I swear if he had pants I would call him Al Bundy. There are other pictures, but his paw moved in them, and I decided that they were too dirty.

We took them for the longest walk that they have been on yet with their new double leash and they were so good! I am so proud. But they were plum tuckered out when we got home.

It was nice that they were so tired too, because I was able to spend some time on something that I love:

Cherry turnovers with white chocolate mousse

Well, I am off to make breakfast. I am eating about 2 hours later than I usually do and my tummy is queezy for it.

Breakfast and sleeping puppies

Good morning all. Its another beautiful day here in Sandpoint. The sun is shining, my stomach seems to have a mind of its own, and the puppies are laying about the house. I swear that I have never seen puppies this lazy.

So…. I have left the dogs alone for a while and I am trying to find something that will soothe my tummy. I made Flavor Blasted Greek Yogurt. Yogurt, cinnamon, honey, truvia, vanilla, coconut, 1 frozen strawberry sliced. Yum! It did the trick for about 15 minutes. Now I am back to watery mouth and woozy body. Oh well. At least it was good.

Speaking of good food, I have to show you what I had for dinner last night. Sometimes it is the simplest things that make your moments.

Noodles with butter and parm, chicken, and asparagus. Mmmmm!

Well, I have to run. I have been so slack lately in getting anything done and Bill told me last night that his best friend is coming into town next month. So now I have a tone of stuff to do and no excuses… and no sleep. The puppies started playing for a minute while I was writing this, but now they are back to laying around.

I love my boys.

Ok… ok…

So I am being a bad blogger. But I do have excuses for everything (as we have explored).

The puppies are taking up a bit of my time right now, but they are getting trained so fast. I think that I will be able to spend a bit less time on training and more on playing soon.

Our fridge is bare. Not old mother hubbard bare, but enough so that I don’t feel like we have anything to eat. And I can always make something. So now I am waiting for payday. Bill and I are caught up on our bills finally, so we will have a bit of money to play with and buy yummy food with.

I am applying for jobs. I just don’t feel that there is a future for me where I am at the moment. I will not quit, but I do need to find something that is beneficial to everyone. But mostly to my sanity. I applied for one at a local natural foods store and I am keeping my fingers crossed. That is a job that I would love to have. I also applied for 911 dispatch. For those of you that don’t know, I am almost done with my EMT training. So this would be a great job for me as well. A few others are in the mix. Including a barista at Starbucks.  Wish me luck folks.

On the food front, I do need to share with you the special appetizer that I had at work last night. I didn’t have my camera with me, so the picture was taken with my phone.  But I think that the feeling it gave me is still conveyed.

Grilled asparagus, crispy bacon, egg over easy, parmesan crumbles, and a drizzle of olive oil. Oh…. it made my heart sing!

Well, thats it for now. Be back later.

New addition

I loves me some new addition. No.. not the group. However, they are good sometimes. No… I am talking about the new addition to our family.

The black one is Spock and the lighter one is Kirk. Yes, I know… But they are the perfect names. They are Manchester Terrier/Corgi/Chihuahua mixes and they are about 8-9lbs each…. and they’ll stay that small.Spock has turned out to be my baby and Kirk loves Bill. They are great with the kids… since they are only 4 months old themselves. Well, now you know why I was a bit absent yesterday.

We are going to take the dogs for a nice long walk now. Tell you all about it later.

Beautiful day

Its a wonderful day here in Sandpoint. The sun is shining, the kids are here and behaving themselves, and the animal shelter has a pug. There was a pair, but for some unknown reason, someone separated them. We are going down there at noon to see if emerson is really available and if he is…. YAY!!! I will tell you all more later…. By-eee.

Quick afternoon snack

I love finding new recipes that work for me. Well, when I came across this recipe on Pickley Pear, it looked so good that I had to try it – mostly because I had all the ingredients on hand.

Breakfast cookie

From what I gather, hers is the second incarnation of the cookie. The other can be found here.

But this is the recipe that I followed (changed based on my likes):

  • 1/2 cup of oats
  • 1 tbsp nut butter
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 1/8 cup Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 1/3 banana, small, mashed
  • 1 t Chia seed (I used ground)
  • 1 t Flaxseed, ground
  • 2 Dashes of cinnamon
  • Slivered almonds sprinkled on top

I put it in the fridge and eagerly awaited the final “cookie” result. But I couldn’t wait.  I pulled it out of the fridge and spread some yummy apple/pear butter from the local farmers market ontop. MMMM……

Please excuse the styrofoam plate, but well, I am lazy. If this hadn’t worked out, I could just toss the whole plate.

I am off to make another batch and actually let these ones wait until tomorrow.

There is a sea of lillies in my front yard. At last count there were around 60 and they just keep coming. And then there is the special one. The only one with smell, but you can smell it from the street. I love lillies.

I don’t think that I shared with you last week the present that I got from my mother. Well… this is it….

Its a spice grinder.

Ok… its not just a spice grinder. Its lovely. Ceramic grinder and easy to clean.

I love this thing. Thanks Mom.

I realized that we had a ton of meat in the fridge and with it being such a nice night yesterday, we needed to grill. I ended up making a wonderful seafood patty. I took store bought crab cakes and mixed them with 4oz of raw salmon chopped, bread crumbs, 1 egg, and miscellaneous herbs from the kitchen. Oh they were so good. We also cooked up a large steak, some chicken, and a cracked rosemary infused pork loin for Bill. It was a good dinner.

Well, I am off to enjoy the beautiful sunny day that is Sandpoint.
